Disable Windows 10 from Automatically Installing Apps

These instructions should help prevent Windows 10 from automatically downloading and installing apps such as Candy Crush Soda Saga and others. The issue is that Windows 10 tends to re-install these apps even though you have previously uninstalled them.

Steps to Remove Windows 10 Game Apps

Begin by running your Windows Registry editor, click on the Start button (Windows Logo) at the bottom left of your desktop, then type “regedit” to open regedit.exe and navigate to the following key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\CloudContent

If the CloudContent key is non-existent you will need to create it. Then create a new 32-bit DWORD value named DisableWindowsConsumerFeatures and set its value data to “1”. Does not matter if you are running a 64-bit version of Windows 10. Then, reboot your PC to set the changes.

Note that you may need to uninstall the unwanted apps one more time but they should not return.

Now you can say goodbye to Candy Crush Soda Saga and all the other unwanted apps that you never wanted to try. Insane that one must go to these lengths to change this. Let us just move on and continue developing the future.
