Disabling Microsoft Recall
Microsoft Recall is a new feature introduced with Windows 11 Update 24H2, designed to help users quickly find and revisit anything they’ve seen or done on their PC.
It works by taking snapshots of your screen every few seconds and storing them locally on your device. Those images are feed to Copilot for analysis, which can then be used to search for previously viewed content on your PC using natural language. The idea is to make it easier to find specific images, links, messages, and more on your PC.
Recall was mainly intended for and part of Microsoft’s Copilot+ PCs, which are equipped with advanced AI processors and enhanced security features.
Recall has faced some privacy concerns and criticisms, leading Microsoft to make several adjustments to ensure better privacy and security. Users now have the option to opt-in or out of the feature and can delete snapshots at any time.
