Enable Developer Mode on Android Phones

, ,

This article will show you how to easily enable Developer Mode on Android phones which will provide you with access to the Developer options menu. Let’s get started!

Turn on Android Developer Mode

Go to Settings > About phone > Software information

Locate “Build number” and tap on it 7 times which will enable a new “Developer options” menu accessible from the main page of your Settings screen at the bottom.

Disable Android Developer Mode

To disable Developer mode simply go to Settings > Developer options. From there toggle the first option from On to Off.

NOTE: Turning off Developer Mode will also remove/reset any Quick settings developer tiles you may have toggled on.

Android Privacy Considerations

Sensors Off

Within the Settings > Developer options menu and scroll down to Quick settings developer tiles. From here you can toggle the Sensors Off tile which will allow you to turn off all sensors on your phone from the Quick buttons when swiping down from the top of your phone screen.

NOTE: When Sensors Off is enabled, this will prevent most features on your phone from working such as camera, microphone, accelerometer, etc.

From within Settings > Privacy > Permission manager you can review the various permissions allowed to each app to optimize your privacy.

NOTE: You may want to take things slow. For example, if removing a permission from an App, ensure that the App works as intended after disabling a permission. I don’t advise making a bunch of changes all at once. Take your time and test each setting to ensure nothing breaks.

For example, you can choose which apps have access to your contacts, your location and so on. Again, go slow and verify each Apps function after adjusting the permissions. You can always uninstall and re-install the app should you not take my advise.

Other Android Privacy Considerations

From with Settings > Privacy section, toggle off “Send diagnostic data” and “Android personalization service“. Next, tap on “Customization Service” and if prompted to agree to data collection and processing, you can ignore this section because it has not been enabled. Just close the popup. Otherwise, toggle off the “Customized ads and direct marketing” option and erase your data.
