Disable Search Bar Search Highlights on Windows 11
Microsoft introduced start menu search bar “search highlights” to feature social justice events and other “trending” searches. As if hard working, productive Americans actually care. On top of that it tends to slow down the already sluggish Windows search feature.
In this article, I will show you how to quickly disable search highlights in Windows 11. Now you won’t have to yell, “I don’t care what is trending, just find my damn file already!” No, just me?
Remove Search Highlights on Windows 11
We’ll need to get into the Windows 11 Settings area by clicking on the Start icon (Windows logo) down on the taskbar. From there, if visible, click on “Settings” or simply right click on the Start icon and select “Settings“.
From there, select “Privacy & security” and scroll down until you see “More settings“. Toggle the “Show search highlights” setting off to prevent seeing “content suggestions” in the Start menu search box.
