Disable Windows Smart App Control
Microsoft does not provide a way to bypass Smart App Control for individual applications; the security feature is designed with a strict enforcement model that prevents end-user overrides for specific files or programs.
However, you can turn the Smart App Control feature off.
In order to run blocked software or files, you must turn off Smart App Control entirely.
This article will show you how to do so whether you want this change permanent or just temporary.
Disable Smart App Control
To disable (either temporarily or otherwise) the Windows Smart App Control feature Navigate to Settings > Privacy & Security > Windows Security > App & browser control > Smart App Control settings and switch the toggle to Off.
You can turn Smart App Control back on immediately after installing the desired application to restore protection.
Note: If you are on an older Windows build that lacks this toggle, you may need to reset your PC or perform a clean Windows installation to re-enable the feature.
For specific files blocked by SmartScreen (often confused with Smart App Control), you can right-click the file, select Properties, and check Unblock under the Security section, though this does not bypass Smart App Controls core enforcement.
