Get Windows 10 to Warn Before File Deletion, Restore the Delete Confirmation Dialog Box
These instructions will help you to restore the Windows 10 “Delete Confirmation” dialog box when deleting a file or folder.
Restore Recycling Bin Delete Confirmation
If the “Recycle Bin” is visible on your desktop, simply right click on the icon then select “Properties” from the drop down. Check the box “Display delete confirmation dialog” then “OK“. Note, you may need to restart your PC for this to take effect.
If the “Recycle Bin” is not on your desktop, simply click the Start button (Windows Logo) down at the bottom left of the screen and type “recycle” (There is no text field to type into, simply start typing after clicking the windows logo). Select the “Recycle Bin” from the list of options. Once open, click on the “Manage” tab (might default to that tab) then click the “Recycle Bin properties” icon at the top. Check the box “Display delete confirmation dialog” then “OK“.
Note, you may need to restart your PC for this to take effect.
