If you are using the Enfold theme for your WordPress web site, after updating to WordPress 5.3.1 you may have noticed that your social media icons disappeared.
The issue appears to stem from the WordPress 5.3.1 security and maintenance release which may be preventing the rendering of the icon font script used to display said social media icons. But this is just a guess.
Luckily, the Kriesi Media development team at Enfold have addressed the issue. The solution to the problem will be included within the next Enfold theme release which is expected sometime after the holidays. In the meantime, they have provided us with a way to patch the issue and restore the social media icon font functionality.
Beginning around Enfold v4.5.1 we noticed that when previewing the changes made to a page or post we would receive the following PHP warning message.

Our brief research into this issue showed that it is related to some sort of conflict with another plugin. However, it isn’t a pressing issue as it is only a warning. But it is still annoying which is why we have come up with a quick patch to mute these warning messages.
Beginning around Enfold v4.5.2 the theme developers (Kriesi.at) added a way to determine which editor a page or post was using when viewing it from the frontend of your website.
This was also added to the post state of every page and post within the WordPress admin backend.
No doubt some find this additional information helpful to see, at a glance, what editor a page or post is using. Then there are those who found that it added unnecessary clutter. Especially since we KNOW which editor is being used because we always use the same one.
This article contains a code snippet which will remove the editor type from the frontend admin bar as well as the post type within the WordPress backend. Thus no longer displaying “Advanced Layout Builder” or “Classic Editor“.
The following code snippet will remove the “Portfolio Items” post type within the Enfold theme for WordPress.

If your “Terms of Service / Terms and Conditions” page contains an Enfold Advanced Layout Editor “Color Section” element this will cause an undesired display of said page when a visitor clicks on the “Terms and Conditions” link from the WooCommerce Checkout page.
The solution; don’t use the Advanced Layout Editor’s “Color Section” element on your “terms” page.
